The Parent Teacher Student Association is an important part of JSIS and your child’s elementary school experience. JSIS PTSA is a non-profit association that builds our community by organizing events such as La Fiesta and Japan Night, and providing family support such as the school’s clothing bank, the Giving Tree campaign, and financial aid for Picture Day, Membership dues, etc. It raises funds to enrich our curriculum and support a learning environment that sparks creativity, curiosity, and imagination. It also maintains open communication lines via room representatives, a bimonthly newsletter, and three annual PTSA general meetings to keep parents informed about school and educational information.
JSIS PTSA Mission
To bring together Parents, Staff, and Students to create an inclusive and thriving community so that every child succeeds and grows into a global citizen.
National PTA Mission
To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
How We Use PTSA Funds
The JSIS PTSA devotes over 60% of its budget to programs that have a direct benefit to every student's educational experience in the classroom.
- 64% funds school programs like language immersion staff and curriculum, classroom supplies, PE equipment, teacher expenses, and year-round staff appreciation.
- 19% works to amplify our voice advocating at the state and national levels, and support Race & Equity work.
- 11% funds community engagement via events that enrich our students’ culture, and strengthen our sense of community.
- 6% pays for administrative expenses like insurance to keep our community events safe, and all channels of communication to keep us informed and connected.
